    Redken Symposium Creates Buzz….
Back from Vegas – Frank, Jasmine and Sallie inspired our staff as they shared their latest tips for color and hairstyles. The Redken Symposium unveiled styles from the most cutting edge to the fantastically romantic.

Hair Trends: Strong musical influences can be found in popular hairstyles these days. Neo-soul brings listeners slow, smooth rhythms, strong beats – and fabulous soft curls that flow just like the sounds that inspired them. If you’re a fan of techno – you won’t have to look far to find strong, electric jolts to cut throughout your hairstyle. And finally Jazz aficionados demonstrate spontaneous, free flowing hair with lots of big curls and harmonious blended colors.

Highlights: Color the trend you can take with you anywhere! Effervescent and meek, both dramatic and subtle – color is the new feather boa for hairstyle. The unique and foolproof process called “veiling” left stylists applauding for more. This technique uses soft, peek-a-boo hues amongst a backdrop of the darkened base color. “Paneling” is another popular trend found throughout the show, and stylists were taught the dramatic benefits of complimentary color designs. Finally a technique called “Balliage” is one of the more popular looks these days – as color artists hand paint highlights throughout the hair in order to create a distinct flash of color.

Funky Hair Tip: For a cool and flashy touch, designers added geometric shapes of color to the runway! Cookie Cutter art made its debut as stylists added color shapes to the hair through the cunning use of stencils.
